Yikes speaking of movie theaters – our awesome Academy Theater in Montavilla needs to convert to digital. It will cost a whole lot of money. They will be starting a crowdsource funding campaign with perks soon – here’s the Info:

May only be good for the next 3 days or so – you never know with Groupon. I bought several. In Portland, when it hits 90-100F, it’s time to hit the air conditioned movie theaters!
Near one of the worst intersections in town, the Joy Theater is up and thriving. Stuck out where 99w/I-5 meet, the Joy has been back in business for over a year. Another vintage theater saved! Not only do they show second runs and 3d films, they host a whole mess of special features, including $1 kid matinees, and Weird Wednesday! Past Weird Wednesday features include: “She Devil on Wheels”, “The Acid Eaters”, and my fave movie name of all time: “EEGAH!”. Sure it’s out of the way if you live in the Portland Grid, but man – looks like it’s well worth the trip!

Hollywood Theater has gone insane with the best freakin’ line up of shows – something every night! This weekend they are showing the Internet Cat Film Festival from the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. Love cats, love Walker Art Center, love it! If you want to keep up with all their events, totally like them on the Facebook. Oh I forgot they’re having a Pancake Film Festival June 19th 2013. Pancakes. Film. Yes.
Last Thursday on Alberta June 27th – it’s more tame than it used to be but few things are more Portland than Last Thursday
